Framed Artwork sighned by Jeff Ho, "Go Home" 16 x 13
Jeff Ho is an icon of the surf and skate community. Ho started building performance longboards in the early 60s. He started Zephyr Productions (Zephyr ? Greek god of the west wind.) in the 70?s in Dogtown. Dogtown is an area of West Los Angeles ? the poorer, slum area on the south side of Santa Monica that covered Venice Beach and Ocean Park Beaches. Ho also created the famous Zephyr Competition Team that included Jay Adams, Stacy Peralta & Tony Alva ? who became widely known as the Z-Boys. Jeff Ho considers surfing and skateboarding to be art forms in their own right, because these activities allow the individuals to fully express themselves. This philosophy has transcended into the way he also expresses himself as a visual artist.
He has transferred his iconic imagery from products to canvases using aerosol to embellish the canvases with minimalist compositions and surfing iconography. Graffiti styles from the P.O.P. (Right between Venice Beach and Santa Monica was an abandoned amusement park right on the water called the Pacific Ocean Park Pier. The locals called it the P-O-P. ) skate era and Zephyr rainbow artworks.
