Item Description

About Island girl Jewelry:

In Barbados its a tradition to pierce a baby girls ears and put a bangle on her wrist. Usually the gold metal used to make the bangle is recycled from jewelry passed down from the grandparents and family members melted together and drawn out into new gold jewelry that will be cherished for a lifetime.

Island Girl Jewelry began back in 2008 when my husband and business partner Ricardo and I started working in his family's jewelry business in Bridgetown, Barbados. On my small work bench in our little shop we combined my designs and love of jewelry with his metal smithing skills. Gathering inspiration from the women passing by en route to market wearing big bold earrings dangling down and bangles jingling on their wrists it was clear to me the importance jewelry has is in everyday life, a symbol of beauty and pride.  In 2015 we took this island inspiration to Vermont.

In Vermont we continue to make Island Girl Jewelry at our new work shop in my home town.  We are happy to be spreading our Island vibe up here in the green mountains of the Northeast!  Starting new traditions for you to share with your family and loved ones.
