Item Description

This pendant is from the seed of the Rudraksha or blue marble tree growing next to the welcoming tent at the Lawai International Center. The tree has heard the many inspirational stories of a community moving with their hearts to support the Center.

The seed was harvested, cleaned and gilded by Aaron Uyeda of Waimea. Aaron has been is retired Kauai County Engineer who has been volunteering for the Center for over 10 years cooking at events and nurturing the grounds on Caring Days. He created this gift in hopes that it will support the Center so that all people including those who will come after us will find their way home to the Light of Lawai.

Medicinally, the beads are known to heal the mind and body ailments, reduce heart disease and lower blood pressure. They are also believed to increase clarity and general awareness, calm the central nervous system, help quiet the mind, and free negative thought. In addition, they are said to be cooling when worn against the skin, and increase energy and stamina while providing rejuvenating qualities.

In Hindu mythology, it's believed that the God meditated on the welfare of mankind and emerged crying tears of compassion. The tears, upon hitting the Earth, crystallized to form the tree that grow rudrakshas.

This seed bead is hung on 24" black silk cord with a matching metal colored magnetic closure.
