Item Description
This unique and sturdy 40" walking stick was skillfully crafted by Dave Reando from vintage Koa wood more than 50 years old. The top of the walking stick is geometrically engraved and additionally features light-colored wood inlays created from wood used in the construction of the LIC Bell Tower. To prevent the walking stick tip from sliding on smooth surfaces, a small disc made from a local slipper has been glued on. The disc can be easily replaced if necessary.
Accenting the walking stick wrist strap are two Glass Lampwork Beads created in Dave’s Kalaheo studio. Crafting Lampwork Beads has been a passion for Dave for almost 20 years, especially during the cold winter months Dave used to spend in southern Illinois in the past.
This fine walking stick can be used as an accent piece in any home and/or it will prove most useful when hiking the many trails Kauai has to offer. It should definitely accompany you when you next walk the 88 Shrines pilgrimage trail!
Dave is a craftsman, an artist and a dedicated volunteer who has been helping the Lawai International Center for 10 years setting up for events and managing the Pilgrimages. Every week for the past 5 years, he has been graciously nurturing and caring for the land of the Center. Dave is an invaluable member of the LIC ohana.
