Item Description
This item is a wonderful paddle created from Koa wood by local artist and craftsman Ray Nitta. The paddle measures 59" x 11" and is inscribed "Ka hoe uli' Koa, R. Nitta 2023". Note the beauty of the wood and the fine craftsmanship that went into creating this piece. The wood of the shaft flows seamlessly into the wide blade. This piece reminds viewers of the voyagers who first discovered Hawaii and would be a treasured piece when added to your art collection.
Koa (Acacia Koa) is a species of flowering tree in the family Fabaceae. It is endemic to (i.e. found only in) Hawaii. Its name in the Hawaiian language, koa, also means brave, bold, fearless, or warrior. The heart of the master is felt in every stroke onto the wood.
